KITCHEN + DINING REMODEL – GOLDEN VALLEY

Set against the backdrop of Minneapolis’s Theodore Wirth Park, this Golden Valley home had good bones but a dated 1980s kitchen that was ready for a refresh. LMNTL was brought in to reimagine the space—transforming it from a tired white-on-white-on-terracotta interior into a warm, functional, and eco-conscious hub for cooking, gathering, and entertaining.

The renovation centered on balancing sustainability, durability, and beauty. We started by analyzing flow and material massing through 3d renderings. We then focused on identifying and selecting sustainable materials and finishes. Old corian countertops were replaced with Eco by Cosentino, a striking surface made from 75% recycled content, including shards of glass and mirror that add depth and reflectivity. Bamboo cabinetry (Plyboo) introduced a bold, textural grain reminiscent of zebrawood, while frosted glass and aluminum accents on the back wall lightened the palette and harmonized with stainless appliances.

Functionality was just as important as aesthetics. A former walk-in closet was redesigned into highly accessible pull-out pantry storage, paired with a custom wine rack and integrated microwave nook. A tambour door conceals small appliances, keeping counters clear and the kitchen streamlined. Low-VOC paints, new appliances, and improved lighting elevated both health and livability.

The transformation extended into the dining space with a custom-built ash table and benches from a local craftsman, paired with vibrant, locally sourced artwork. The result is a kitchen and dining environment that reflects the client’s personality, celebrates sustainable design, and enhances daily rituals—whether cooking a meal, opening a bottle of wine, or sharing stories around the table.
